Decades of industry leadership
Thor Sellar
A globally recognised supply chain and business process specialist in the petroleum industry, having executed high-level Pan-African roles for Chevron Corporation. Sarbanes-Oxley and King Code certified, with proficiency across SAP, OpenERP, VBA, PHP and many business-process applications.
Selected accomplishments:
- Instituted the inaugural Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment fuels supplier in South Africa.
- Redesigned the Durban and inland supply chain — improving EBIT by over $3 million per annum.
- Reduced dependency on Durban refiners, unlocking over USD 25 million in incremental value.
- Rolled out Area Operating Planning across Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia and Tanzania.
- Unlocked over $360 million in EBIT from the Southern African bunker market from 2008 to date.
Denzil October
A seasoned career oil-industry professional with over thirty consecutive years of experience in regional and local executive roles at multinationals including BP, Engen and the Independent Petroleum Group of Kuwait.
Selected accomplishments:
- IPG — built a trade book of over half a mid-range tanker of gas-oil per month from a zero base in under seven months.
- BP — grew trade volumes by 50% to over 1 billion litres per annum within eleven months.
- BP — restructured logistics across South Africa and Mozambique to unlock over 450,000 m³ of capacity per annum.
- Engen — restored R500 million of "locked" value to the balance sheet.
- Founding director of IFISA — the Independent Fuel Importers of South Africa.
